It’s not just the major festivals hoping to entice Irish music fans this summer. As well as Aiken Promotions’ Live at the Marquee festival (scheduled for Cork’s Docklands across June and July), the annual Indiependence Festival in Mitchelstown, Co Cork will take place on the August Bank Holiday weekend (July 31st to August 1st).

UK band Reverend the Makers have been announced as headliners, and they’ll be joined by a plethora of Irish acts including O Emperor, Duke Special, Delorentos, Jape, The Funeral Suits and more. Tickets are on sale now. mitchels townfest.com

Castle Palooza will run on the same weekend in the grounds of Tullamore’s Charleville Castle in Co Offaly. Although the line-up is being kept under wraps until mid-April, organiser Cillian Stewart promised that the festival’s fifth birthday would be the best yet. There will also be dance and art workshops, a day spa, exhibitions and plenty of other extras running over the weekend. castlepalooza.com

Donegal will host surf’n’ music festival The Sea Sessions on June 25th, 26th and 27th, with performances from Paul Weller, Tom Baxter, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Cathy Davey, David Holmes and more.
