A number of gigs are taking place around the country in the coming weeks to fundraise for victims of the recent Haitian earthquake.

Dublin promoters Foggy Notions will host two shows at Whelan’s next month. The February 14th event will feature Andy Irvine, The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock, Mumblin’ Deaf Ro, The Hounds and Big Monster Love, while another gig on the 17th will see David Kitt, Jape, Goodtime John, Legion of Two and Patrick Kelleher play. Glen Hansard and guests also play Whelan’s this Sunday.

There will also be a fundraiser at Dublin’s Twisted Pepper on February 4th, with three bands (yet to be announced) and a cake sale. See www.sweetoblivion loves.com for updates.

Meanwhile, Belfast4Haiti will see a fundraiser take place across four venues in the city on January 31st. The Answer, Panama Kings, Cashier No 9, General Fiasco, David Holmes, The Japanese Popstars, Boxcutter and more will play sets. www.belfast4haiti.com.

On a grander scale, the George Clooney-organised Hope for Haiti telethon/ benefit tonight will feature Bono, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys, among others.

It will be televised on MTV and VH1 from 1am.
