Fans of Jimi Hendrix and Phil Lynott are in for a treat over the next few weeks, with exhibitions relating to both musicians taking place around Dublin.
Experience Hendrix opens today at the ebow Gallery (formerly Gallery Number One) in Christchurch. The display of fine-art photography is the work of the guitarist's personal photographer Gered Mankowitz, who often had exclusive access to Hendrix during the 1960s.
The British photographer is renowned for his rock photography, having also snapped some iconic images of bands such as The Rolling Stones in their heyday. This is the first time that his work has been exhibited in Ireland. A limited number of pieces will be on sale during the month-long exhibition, with prices ranging from €750 to €6000 .
Meanwhile, The Philip Lynott Exhibition re-opened yesterday in Dublin for a limited three-month run, after a successful stint at London's O2. Everything from guitars played by the Thin Lizzy man to school reports and hand-written song lyrics are on display at the St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre until the end of September.
