The Irish Baroque Orchestra’s Masterworks 2012 series takes place in a new venue this year (St Finian’s Lutheran Church on Dublin’s Adelaide Road), but the series’ concentration on core values remains. The focus is on cantatas and vocal works by Bach and Vivaldi (with Scottish soprano Susan Hamilton), all sharing programmes with suites by Telemann. And three of the Telemann suites will be presented together on the afternoon of January 29th as a “Telemann Coffee Concert”.

The orchestra (artistic director, violinist Monica Huggett, pictured) is also presenting a pilot outreach programme, Boutique Baroque, in the National Concert Hall's Kevin Barry Room, with lecture/recitals (featuring harpsichordist Malcolm Proud and music lecturer and Irish Timescritic Martin Adams), workshops, and musical introductions (including a general one on baroque music by the Austrian Ambassador, Walter Hagg).

The recently formed Irish Youth Chamber Choir makes its Dublin debut under Greg Beardsell on Sunday, with a programme of works by Pawel Lukaszewski, James MacMillan, Eric Whitacre and Greg Scanlon. And the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra's free Horizonsconcert on Tuesday lunchtime focuses on the music of Kevin Volans, his Symphony ( Daar kom die Alabama) and Piano Concerto No 1, with Isabelle O'Connell as soloist. Gavin Maloney conducts.
