Fabrice Millischer, trombonist with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken-Kaiserslautern, also pursues a busy solo career from early music to the 21st-century work. The repertoire on this calling- card CD ranges from early 17th-century pieces by Castello, Correa de Arauxo and Fontana on sackbut to a Movement by Hungarian composer Frigyes Hidas (1928-2007) and Fast and Furious by the performer’s brother, Matthieu.

Sadly, the "all styles" of the title is misleading. By side-stepping the obvious (which would, for instance, include pieces by Hindemith, Frank Martin and Berio from the 20th-century), Millischer's often very nimble playing is not heard in the best of material. And two 18th-century concertos by Handel and Albinoni, in versions with keyboard, are no real substitute. url.ie/fgcs
