Around a decade ago, Sixto Rodriguez's spine-tingling Sugar Man fetched up on David Holmes's Come Get it I Got it compilation, and provoked a lot of "who the hell is that?" questions. It's taken until now and the excellent Searching for Sugar Man documentary for more light to be shed on the Detroit native who said goodbye to the music business after just two albums. But while Rodriguez worked on building sites, he unknowingly became a cult star in apartheid-era South Africa, and this soundtrack and film will ensure the Mexican- American singer-songwriter doesn't become another one who got away.
