Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi has been confirmed as a headline act for this year’s Electric Picnic.

Capaldi, who performed two shows in Dublin’s Marlay Park earlier this week, will take to the main stage in Stradbally, Co Laois, on Friday, August 28th.

Speculation that Capaldi would be announced as part of the Electric Picnic line-up arose after fans at Marlay Park spotted T-shirts from his official merchandise included a date for Electric Picnic.

The festival later confirmed the singer as a headline slot saying: “You heard it here first (or second).”

He joins a line-up that also includes headliners Sombr, Zara Larsson, Fontaines DC, Gorillaz and CMAT, who supported Capaldi at his Marlay Park gigs this week.

This year’s Electric Picnic, which takes place August 28th-30th, will see 80,000 festivalgoers descend on Stradbally.

Other acts previously announced include Skepta, Wunderhorse, Role Model and Geese. There is no shortage of Irish acts either, with The Mary Wallopers, Florence Road and Madra Salach also on the bill.
