With a figured veneer top above two drawers, this mahogany sofa table is expected to be one of the best-selling items at the first autumn auction being conducted by Mullen's of Laurel Park in Co Dublin.
Resting on panelled-end standard supports with scrolled brackets and a turned cross stretcher, the item is expected to sell for £1,800 to £2,200.
Another mahogany sofa table being offered on the same occasion is slightly lighter in appearance, thanks both to the use of rosewood for cross-banding and spiral-twist legs ending in brass castors; its pre-sale estimate is £1,500 to £1,800.
Other items of furniture among the 250-plus lots include a William IV mahogany teapot (£600 to £800), a mahogany sideboard with three-quarter gallery dating from circa 1800 (£1,000 to £1,500), an Edwardian painted armchair (£1,500 to £1,600) and an Edwardian mahogany sidetable (£2,500 to £3,500).
Being held on the company's premises, the auction takes place next Monday at 7 p.m.
