Next Sunday's edition of TG4 series Scéalta ón Riochtwill explore how the small rural community of Beaufort, Co Kerry once became a thriving movie location. In 1910 Sidney Olcott, a Canadian director of Irish descent, led the first American film crew to make a movie outside the US when they shot The Lad from Old Irelandin Beaufort.

Over the next two years, Olcott returned to direct a succession of Irish-themed films, among them The Colleen Bawn, Rory O'Moreand Ireland, the Oppressed, which led to complaints from the military censors.
