Euro 2012 is just around the corner, and already EA has unleashed its tournament specific add-on for Fifa 12. The downloadable pack has eight official stadiums in Poland and Ukraine, along with 53 teams, including the 16 finalists. This is pretty much Fifa 12 with a fresh lick of paint. It has the Player Impact Engine, precision dribbling and all those bits that make Fifa 12 really great. In fact, you need Fifa 12 to actually get the DLC, unlike previous tournaments where Fifa decided that the competition warranted its own standalone game. But some corners appear to have been cut in this release. Although you get Expedition mode (where you create a customised team to play against European opponents) and the Story of the Finals mode, this release doesn’t include Captain Your Country mode. And not all the teams are licensed, despite the game being billed as the official game of the tournament. There are 24 unlicensed teams in total, including co-hosts Ukraine. And that’s before you take into account the bugs in the DLC, which EA is working to address. It’s a pity because at the heart of it, it’s still a good game.
