Anyone disturbed by background music or what you might call acoustical pollution, may soon find there's help to hand, writes Michael Dervan. A Dutchman, Jan Bobok, retired leader of the Hilversum Radio Symphony Orchestra, who lives part of the year in Wicklow, wants to set up an organisation on the lines of ones in the Netherlands (BAM - Fight Acoustical Pollution) and Britain (Pipe Down). If you like the idea of being allowed to down a pint in public disturbed by nothing more than chatter, or shop without the intrusion of Muzak, you can contact Bobok at Forest Hill, Greenhill Road, Blainroe, Wicklow (040466170).
