Zalando first-half revenues rise 31.5 per cent to €1.38 billion

Online fashion platform Zalando, which opened a fashion insights centre in Dublin this year, has reported a 31.5 per cent increase in first-half revenues to €1.38 billion.
The company said the increase was driven by a considerably larger active customer base, with the number of active customers growing from 13.7 million in the second quarter of last year to 16.4 million this year. The site had 412 million visits in the second quarter of 2015 up from 323 million visits during the same period last year.
Zalando reported an adjusted EBIT of €59.2 million for the first half of 2015, corresponding to an adjusted EBIT margin of 4.3 per cent.
Meanwhile, second quarter revenues were up 34.1 per cent to €733 million. Adjusted EBIT was €30.2 million at group level, corresponding to an EBIT margin of 4.1 per cent. The company noted group EBIT was “adversely affected” by a temporary increase in payment costs.
Zalando said it is now expecting to exceed its annual revenue growth of 20-25 per cent for 2015 and is increasing guidance to 28-31 per cent.
The international e-commercial company that specialises in selling shoes, clothing and other fashion products online, took a 15-month lease of space at Barrow Street, overlooking Grand Canal Quay in Dublin’s Silicon Docks in May of this year.
It aims to create 200 jobs in Dublin over the next three years at its fashion insights centre.
