Perhaps it doesn't seem appropriate to talk about a podcast in this manner, but Radiolab will change your life. The Maynooth App

APP:As a fresh wave of bright young things prepare to fly the nest and begin university life one wonders if their smartphones will deliver. A look through iPhone apps for third-level institutes brings me to the Maynooth App, which is undoubtedly the best of the bunch. It contains information students actually want, such as a map with parking zones, details of public transport, and a list of academic offices with email, phone and location included. Other universities seem to think students use apps to look at stock pictures of happy students laughing beside college landmarks. Fail.

Medium

Website:Twitter is great but, as Oscar Wilde, a hipster before his time, once said: "Everything popular is wrong." Not to worry, the creators of Twitter have invented a new way to overshare online with complete strangers and it's called Medium. Right now it's in beta

so while anyone can look through existing content, most of us cannot post yet. It looks a bit like a blog-ier form of Pinterest, which is great for themed collections of pictures but the minimal presentation of boxes of text doesn’t exactly jump off the page.

RebelMouse

Social media:If you're looking for something like Medium. ie an interesting and useful extension of your social web presence, but one that is already well developed, RebelMouse is a good choice. It pulls in your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles and allows you to choose and edit content from these sites, so essentially you're curating your own digital life in one central place (you can add posts on RebelMouse too). I'm not sure how popular it will be, but it's enjoyable and makes you think about what you put out there on the web.
