Technology firms to create 120 jobs in Dublin, Kildare and Cork

More than 120 new jobs are to be created by three technology companies in Dublin, Kildare and Cork

Dublin-based Fineos, which makes claims management software for the insurance industry, is to create 50 jobs over the coming months. The expansion will bring its headcount to 400 people.

Separately, tech firm Opensky, which provides software to the food manufacturing industry, is to create 30 posts at its Irish headquarters in Naas, Co Kildare over the next 18 months.

The move brings the company's current number of employees to 80.

The company said the new jobs were aimed at meeting the demands of new business and predicted growth over the next two years.

Wireless technology firm Qualcomm is also opening a new centre in Cork which will see the creation of 20 jobs.

The company, a global leader in 3G, 4G, and next generation technologies, said it had already begun recruiting for the positions, which include software and network engineering positions.

Meanwhile, technology consultancy Storm Technology is to create 21 new jobs to meet ongoing growth in demand for its services.

The roles will be based in both Dublin and Galway.

"The ICT sector, which we have specifically targeted through our action plan for jobs, has added a total of more than 11,000 jobs since this Government took office and Irish companies are playing a key role in that," Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said,
