BLOXHAM Stockbrokers’ popular economist Alan McQuaid has secured another role following the firm’s recent collapse. McQuaid, who spent 17 years with Bloxham, has linked up with rival broker Merrion in Ballsbridge.

He is part of the Bloxham bonds team that is moving to Merrion subject to Central Bank clearance for the switch.

Businessman Barry O’Callaghan has applied for membership of the Royal Irish Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire. O’Callaghan is listed on the ballot paper as having an address in Blackrock, Co Dublin, with his interests being “software business EMPG”.

Presumably, this is the international arm of Education Media and Publishing Group, of which he retained control after stepping down last year from the highly-leveraged US-based business that he had put together in the previous five years. Members get to vote on O’Callaghan’s application on June 20th.
