Jolt Online chief in web hero win
Serial internet entrepreneur Dylan Collins was honoured with the 2010 Internet Hero award at the Eircom Golden Spiders in Dublin last night.
The founder of Jolt Online Gaming received his award at a black-tie event hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr.
Fota Wildlife Park in Cork won the Travel and Tourism award and the overall Grand Prix Award.
The judges cited “the engaging, informative and fun” way the website was presented, as well as Fota’s effective use of social media.
€500,000 expansion for Phonovation
Phonovation, the SMS and integrated voice response services supplier, has invested €500,000 in a network expansion which will increase the company’s call handling and SMS capacity by 50 per cent. The investment covers hardware, hosting and staff.
Visa partners with cybercrime centre
Credit card provider Visa Europe has entered into a partnership with University College Dublin’s Centre for Cybercrime Investigation.
The UCD research centre will assist Visa Europe with criminal investigations, which will include its staff appearing as expert witnesses in court cases around Europe. The centre will also undertake research on new security features and support in the development of training courses for judges and prosecutors.
