Jefferson Group and Swedish media to timber conglomerate, Industriforvaltnings AB Kinnevik, have formed a joint venture to manufacture industrial paper sacks in Poland. The total investment is £3 million with Smurfit putting up half.

The new company, Smurfit-Korsnas Papersacks (Polska), will employ 25 people at the outset and will be located in Wierzbica, south of Warsaw. The two companies have also agreed to establish a jointly owned operation for marketing and sales of paper sacks for household and garden waste. This will be located in the Netherlands with sales offices initially in France and the UK.
