Smartforce, the Dublin-based company, has won a $10 million (€10.23 million) contract to supply e-learning software to the management consultancy firm, Deloitte Consulting.

Under the agreement, Smartforce will provide Deloitte's 15,000 workforce with its entire e-learning portfolio of software.

In collaboration with Deloitte's instructor-led programme, Smartforce is deploying collaboration software tools and mobile capabilities.

This will enable Deloitte Consulting to address functional business areas and processes including IT, enterprise applications, sales and business management.

The software also includes certain enabling technologies for easy implementation and integration with Deloitte's existing leaning management systems.

The new multi-million dollar deal builds on Smartforce's seven year relationship with Deloitte Consulting's learning programme.

Mr Greg Priest, chairman and chief executive of Smartforce, said Deloitte's commitment to enhancing the skills of its employees was a flagship success story for the e-learning industry.

Shares in Smartforce, which have been hammered since the firm announced a profit warning in June, were up one cent at $3.26 as the Irish stock market closed last night.

The e-learning firm, which shed one-fifth of its workforce in April, plans to merge with US e-learning group SkillSoft later this year.
