Riverdance continues to generate millions of euros for its creators, John McColgan and Moya Doherty - 18 years after it was conceived as an seven-minute-long interval show at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.

New figures show that the creative forces behind the dance entertainment phenomenon shared remuneration of €1.45 million last year.

This follows remuneration to the directors in 2010 totalling €2.5 million.

The returns by Abhann Productions Ltd and subsidiaries show that its pre-tax profits increased more than four-fold from €1.39 million to €5.95 million in the 12 months to the end of June 30th, 2011.
