Musgrave to acquire Allied Logistics from DCC

Deal comes almost 10 months after DCC sold food service division of Allied Foods to Musgrave

SuperValu owner Musgrave has acquired Allied Logistics from the distribution and energy group DCC for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is subject to clearance from the Competition Authority.

The acquisition comes almost 10 months after DCC sold the food service division of Allied Foods to Musgrave.

Established in 1999, Allied Logistics provides ambient and temperature controlled storage and distribution services to a number of food distributors.

"Allied Logistics is an excellent strategic fit for our operations in Ireland and there is a natural synergy between both organisations. We have a long-standing trading relationship and look forward to the employees of Allied Logistics joining Musgrave," said Martin Kelleher, managing director of Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland.

In September, DCC also announced it had agreed to sell its Robert Roberts and Kelkin food businesses to Valeo Foods, the owner of the Jacobs biscuit brand, for €60 million.
