The High Court yesterday discharged orders forcing a Kildare grain merchant with liabilities believed to amount to £20 million (€25.4 million) to convene a creditors' meeting to discuss and vote on a scheme or arrangement. The meeting was scheduled for November 23rd. The application to discharge the orders was made by Mr James Connolly SC, for Edward Kavanagh (Maynooth), Manor Mills, Maynooth, and was granted by Mr Justice McCracken.
Last month, the judge appointed Mr David M. Hughes as provisional liquidator to the company on foot of an application by Quinn's of Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, which claims to be owed more than £900,000 by Kavanagh's. The application for a provisional liquidator was supported by many creditors.
