Oil merger talks end

British oil companies Enterprise Oil and Lasmo said yesterday that merger discussions in which they had been engaged had been terminated. "Having considered the potential merits of a merger, and the contributions that each company would make to the combination, both companies have concluded that they are better placed to add value independently," the companies said.
