No tone area for mobile phones

THE Margin is happy to report the next trend on "No Smoking" havens

THE Margin is happy to report the next trend on "No Smoking" havens. One railway company in England is offering sanctuary for passengers who object to the constant ringing of mobile phones.

Chiltern Railways - which runs services from Birmingham to London - has revealed it is working on a special metal window coating which blocks out phone signals and will offer passengers a safe haven from mobiles when four new trains come into service next May. Chiltern's managing director, Mr Adrian Shooter, said that while other firms had put notices up in carriages asking passengers not to use mobiles, "many people had ignored the signs and carried on using them".

To stop mobiles from working in the phone-free zone, a special metal coating will be applied on the inside of the glass to stop the signal from getting through.
