Bank of Ireland Asset Management announced the opening of its first office in Japan yesterday

Bank of Ireland Asset Management announced the opening of its first office in Japan yesterday. Based in Tokyo, the office will provide investment management services to the Japanese pension fund market, the second largest in the world and worth more than £1.5 trillion.

Mr Willie Cotter, chief executive, Bank of Ireland Asset Management, said that, because of the weakness of Japanese assets, pension plans needed good international investment managers more than ever.
