Career: Started at the ESB before going to the Department of Transport and Power. Most of his career at Department of Finance. First Irish chair of EU Monetary Committee. In June 1994 appointed as second secretary in charge of Budget and economic division.
Why in the news: As second secretary of the Budget Division at the Department of Finance, he has been the man in charge of putting the Budget together for the past six years.
