Small firms lobby group, ISME, said yesterday that it had written to the then Minister for Enterprise and Employment (Mr Richard Bruton) in 1995 suggesting it undertake a Revenue audit of banks and other financial institutions to identify undisclosed income.

ISME said the proposal received no response. "In the light of current revelations that omission takes on added significance," it said.
