COMPENSATION of 4p a gallon for dairy farmers was called for yesterday by the Irish Co operative Organisations Society (ICOS). A green pound revaluation of around 4 per cent is expected tomorrow because of the strength of the pound.

Mr Martin Varley, ICOS policy director, said the Government should match the £45 million which should be available from the EU under European regulations.
