Enterprise Oil, which is leading the Corrib gas project, has sought a petroleum lease on the field. The Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, Mr Fahy, said he received notification of the field's "commerciality" from Enterprise and its partners, Statoil and Marathon Petroleum, on January 11th. An Enterprise spokesman said it was likely to seek project sanction from its board in February.
