Exploration firm Connemara Mining has recorded positive results for gold after a survey of its licences on the Wicklow- Wexford border.
The airborne survey found a magnetic trend along the west of the licence block with multiple magnetic highs splaying off the zone. These features could be an indicator of gold mineralisation, the company said.
One of the splays coincides with the high-grade gold results discovered by Connemara and others at Tombreen and Knocknalour in the same area.
The electromagnetic, magnetic and radiometric survey was completed by Canadian firm Hendrick Resources. It has an agreement with Connemara whereby it can earn a 75 per cent interest in the Connemara gold licences by spending €1 million.
Connemara chairman John Teeling said: “It is very early days in this exploration but the results are very encouraging.”
Connemara is a diversified exploration firm with principal assets in zinc/lead exploration licences as well as shear-hosted gold exploration licences in Ireland. It holds interests in 34 licences covering an area of approximately 1,250sq km.
