Mr Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder and chairman of low-cost airline EasyJet, has a paper fortune worth nearly £280 million following his company's London Stock Exchange debut.

The offer price valued easyJet at about £777 million but the shares raced , lifting the value to more than £860 million.

Mr Haji-Ioannou, his brother and sister own 64 per cent of the company, making the family worth about £550 million.
