Ireland's E-commerce Bill will be signed into law next week by the President, Mrs McAleese, after squeezing through a frantic Dail session with cross-party support.

The Bill, which is considered a good international model, is seen as a cornerstone of e-commerce and is designed to enable businesses and citizens to do business over the Internet.

It gives legal recognition to electronic signatures, gives legal standing to electronic documents and permits encryption.
