One of the largest tracts of industrial land in single ownership near Cork city is to be sold by tender on October 4th. Hamilton Osborne King's Cork office is quoting around €20 million for the 21.47 hectares at Courtstown Park on Little Island which has been owned since the early 1970s by the construction firm of John Sisk and Son.
The indications this week are that the land is likely to be acquired for one of the largest industrial parks in the greater Cork area. However, the agents will also be offering it for sale in two lots.
Zoned both for industry and enterprise in the Cork County Development Plan of 2003, the land is located to the south-east of Little Island and only eight miles from Cork city.
It is accessed from the N25 which connects up with the Dublin and Rosslare road network. Cork Airport and Ringaskiddy deepwater berth are within easy commuting distance from the nearby Jack Lynch Tunnel.
Services to the site include natural gas, power and water supplies, broadband connectivity and mains drainage.
Isobel O'Regan of Hamilton Osborne King said the land is of strategic importance to the continuing development of Little Island and Cork.
It is almost 10 years since the last major sale of development land on Little Island. At that time O'Flynn Construction acquired about 40 hectares which was used for the successful Eastgate Business Park. The Euro Park has also been a runaway success with virtually all the 12 hectares now developed.
