Irish euro sceptics may be heartened by the adoption of a National Code of Practice on Dual Display of Prices which will be announced by Minister of State for Consumer Rights and International Trade, Mr Tom Kitt, within the next few weeks. The code will inform consumers by providing for transparency in the pricing of goods and services during the changeover from the pound to the euro and to assist consumers in becoming familiar with the new currency.

Retailers and service providers subscribing to the code will display prices in both the pound and the euro.
