Awards presented to businesses active in sponsorship of the arts

A range of businesses have been presented with the 1999 Cothu TileStyle Arts Sponsor Awards, which recognise business support for the arts.

The award winners were: Best Arts Sponsorship by a Small Business - Sam Hire Ltd, Waterford; Best Sponsorship of a Single Arts Project - ESB; Best Arts Sponsorship in the Community - PMPA Insurance: and Best Continuing Arts Sponsorship - Hennessy Cognac. The Raincoat Theatre Company Sligo won the Cothu TileStyle Arts Award for the effective and imaginative use of their sponsorship by Hamilton Young Lawlor Architects.

Presenting the special recognition award to ESB, Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, Mr Seamus Brennan, said sponsorship of the arts enabled companies to be part of the fabric of an exciting nation.
