Golf: World number one Tiger Woods has pulled out of the Tour Players' Championship of Europe (TPC) in May, organisers said yesterday.

Woods cited private reasons for his decision not to come to the lucrative German tournament, taking place from May 20-23rd at St Leon-Rot, near Heidelberg.

The American, who has entered the event the last five years and won it three times, is expected to marry Swede Elin Nordegren later this year.

Last year's winner Padraig Harrington, world number three Ernie Els of South Africa and Zimbabwean Nick Price have entered for the event which offers €3 million in prize money.
