Kerry 4-22 IT Tralee 0-10:Kerry breezed into the quarter-final against UCC next weekend after hammering IT Tralee at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney on Saturday.

New midfield pairing Kieran Donaghy and captain Johnny Buckley providing a plentiful supply of ball to Brian Looney, Patrick Curtin and Paul Geaney, who scored 3-12.

Manager Eamon Fitzmaurice said afterwards: “It’s job done, delighted to have a game . . . the longer we can stay in the McGrath Cup the better in terms of preparation for the league.

“UCC will be another step-up next weekend; we’ll see how we get on there.”

Kerry led 3-9 to 0-4 at the interval with the impressive Paul Geaney firing home goals in the sixth and 32nd minute while his cousin Mikey scored with a bullet-like drive in the 26th minute.

Another young gun Patrick Curtin fired over 1-4 in the second period while Paul O’Connor (0-3) and Barry John Keane (0-2) came off the bench to add to Tralee’s woes.
