After a day-long wait for the winds to abate, the organisers last night conceded defeat and abandoned the first day of the National Rowing Championships at Farran Wood in Cork.

Weather permitting, today's programme, which is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to after 7 p.m., will run as planned, with some of the key races from yesterday's programme fitted in around this already packed line-up.
