Tryba in lead

Ted Tryba shot his second consecutive 65 to retain his one-stroke lead in the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course yesterday.

For two days, consistency has been the watchword for Tryba, who had seven birdies and no bogeys.

"I played really solid," Tryba said of his round on the South Course. "I struck the ball well and kept it in the fairway."

Tryba held onto his lead despite a career round from Dennis Paulson, who moved into second place after an eight-under-par 64, including a 29 on the back nine, his first nine holes.
