National League: The FAI said last night that it expects this evening's eircom National League Premier Division fixture between Shelbourne and St Patrick's Athletic to go ahead at Tolka Park despite a threat by members of the Irish Soccer Referees' Society to withdraw their services due to a dispute over their security at games.

Talks between representatives of the association and the referees continued last night without a resolution but an FAI spokesman said it was "the understanding" of senior Merrion Square officials that the match would proceed despite the match officials having threatened in a letter sent on Friday to boycott it.

An electrical fault, outside the Brandywell Stadium, forced the abandonment of Saturday night's Premier Division clash involving Waterford United at Derry City.

And for the side from the south east, it will have been a bitterly disappointing pill to swallow as Alan Reynolds' men had held a 1-0 lead when the lights went out in the 19th minute forcing the abandonment of play.
