Taylor to keep his place

Maik Taylor is set to keep his place in goal for Northern Ireland's World Cup clash with Denmark tomorrow at Parken Stadium. Manager Sammy McIlroy is expected to stick with Taylor despite Roy Carroll's high-profile move to Manchester United and his debut for the Premiership champions last Sunday.

By contrast, Taylor has been demoted to second choice at Fulham following Holland international Edwin van der Sar's move from Juventus this summer.

The rest of the team virtually picks itself as McIlroy must do without eight regulars. Neil Lennon, Gerry Taggart and Steve Lomas are among the most notable absentees.

McIlroy was impressed by Damien Johnson and Philip Mulryne against the Czechs and he feels they can only learn from playing against such opposition.

Ipswich midfielder Jim Magilton will skipper the side after missing the last two internationals to have a groin operation. David Healy has recovered from a kick in the back of the hamstring to leave Colin Murdock as the only worry with a calf injury.
