County finalsIn a repeat of the 1995 Leitrim senior football final, St Mary's again emerged victors over St Caillins, 0-10 to 0-8, to capture their third title at Páirc Seán Mhic Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, yesterday.

St Mary's were three points ahead after 15 minutes but St Caillins rallied in the second quarter. St Mary's hit back with two Clement Cunniffe points to lead 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval. Points from Michael Greene and Brian Duignan sealed St Mary's victory.

Meanwhile, 14-man Glenealy dethroned Carnew, 1-10 to 1-7, in Wicklow's senior hurling final at Aughrim yesterday as Glenealy substitute John Phelan was sent off early in the second half.

Leighton Glynn and Wayne O'Gorman sank Carnew's hopes with vital scores at crucial stages. Carnew's Don Hyland goaled two minutes into the second half to put his side 1-4 to 0-6 ahead but Wayne O'Gorman responded with goal as Glenealy finished with four points from Glynn.
