VICENTE del Bosque yesterday updated his preliminary squad for the Euro 2012 by adding Chelsea stars Fernando Torres and Juan Mata to the group of 21 players that has assembled in Madrid.

A brief statement on the federation website said the pair would have a few days off before joining up with the squad in Switzerland, where Spain are to play friendly games against Serbia and South Korea.

Neither is guaranteed his place in the final squad for the championship, however, as Del Bosque is still weighing up his options prior to naming his final 23 next Sunday and Torres’ inclusion could still depend on whether David Villa is declared fit enough to participate in the championships.
