In a bid to boost attendance levels at Belfield Park, UCD will play their home eircom League Premier Division games on Saturday evenings.

The club usually plays on Friday nights but struggles to attract a sizeable crowd at the Dublin 4 venue.

The club sees Leinster rugby’s switch to Saturday’s in the RDS as a huge success and hopes to replicate that move, albeit on a much smaller scale.

The principal reason, however, is to attract more away supporters and afford them ample time for travelling to the city.

UCD will play their first two home games of the campaign - against St. Patrick’s Athletic and Cork City - on Fridays and will then host Bray Wanderers on Saturday, April 8th at 5.15pm.

Club officials have confirmed they will revert back to Friday nights if the Saturday switch proves unsuccessful.
