Joe Gamble has been drafted into the Republic of Ireland squad for the forthcoming friendly against Chile at Lansdowne Road.

The Cork City midfielder has been included as cover for the Leeds United pair Liam Miller and Jonathan Douglas, both of whom are unavailable due to their involvement in the Championship play-off final.

Ireland manager Steve Staunton has also seen Stephen Elliot withdraw from the squad, who travel to Portugal for a training camp on Fridey, due to injury.

Gamble joins fellow eircom League player Jason Byrne in the travelling party but will not join the rest of the squad until after next Saturday's Premier Division clash with league leaders Derry City.
