Ireland manager in gun threat

Republic of Ireland football manager Steve Staunton was threatened at gunpoint tonight at a hotel in near Dublin.

Republic of Ireland football manager Steve Staunton was threatened at gunpoint tonight at a hotel in near Dublin.

Gardai said a man in his early 30s was arrested after an incident at the Portmarnock Hotel.

He is being detained in Malahide Garda Station and can be held for 72 hours.

The FAI has also confirmed that an incident involving Staunton occurred but said that he was unhurt and will be looking after training tomorrow as usual.
