Inter table Lampard bid - report

Inter Milan have reportedly offered £7.95m for Frank Lampard after his agent said talks with Chelsea had got nowhere.

Inter Milan have reportedly offered £7.95m for Frank Lampard after his agent said talks with Chelsea had got nowhere.

Chelsea confirmed earlier today that the Italian giants had made an informal enquiry as to the player's availability, but no financial approach had been received.

However, that situation has now changed with Sky Sports News claiming the Serie A champions have tabled a sizeable offer for the England international.

Inter have been strongly linked with a move for the midfielder for some time, with that speculation mounting since former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho took the reins at Giuseppe Meazza.

With only a year left to run on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, and with no indication that he is willing to discuss an extension, the time may have arrived for Lampard to accept a new challenge elsewhere.

Incoming Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed his intention to keep Lampard at Stamford Bridge and will have to act quickly if his tenure is to avoid getting off to a disappointing start.

Lampard's agent Steve Kutner said: "I would just like to make the position clear. Felipe had a very amicable chat with Frank who told him he always envisaged ending his playing career at Chelsea Football Club.

"He also told him that unfortunately the terms for a new contract cannot be agreed with the board despite discussions having been ongoing for over two years.

"This, coupled with everything that happened to Frank at the end of last season, means his position remains completely unresolved."
