Soccer:Joe Gamble appears to be the latest player set to leave Cork City as the club attempts to get back on an even keel after almost going out of business earlier this week.

Colin Healy, Denis Behan and Pat Sullivan have already left in recent weeks as the club aims to restructure after they paid a tax bill of €419,000 to avoid a winding-up order from the High Court.

Gamble appears to be the latest player to leave as the club attempts to cut the crippling wage bill.

City lost 1-0 against Bohemians last night and it may have been Gamble’s last appearance as he has been tracked by other League of Ireland and cross-channel clubs.

“It’s coming to a head now and realistically the club is being forced to make a lot of changes and may even go part-time,” explained Gamble after last night’s match.

“I have to look at my own future and I can’t afford to have an operation now if I am going to leave or if I am going to be on the move.

“I have no other choice and that’s the reason I am playing through the pain barrier because I need to get myself fit. If the club goes forward, I would love to be a part of it, but somehow, I don’t think I will be here much longer,” said the Cork man.
