Adam positive about Stoke move

Soccer:Stoke's deadline-day signing Charlie Adam believes Tony Pulis' side have enough quality to establish themselves in the top 10 of the Barclays Premier League.

The 26-year-old Scotland international completed his switch from Liverpool to Stoke last Friday and went on to make his debut against Wigan the following day. Adam came off the bench in the 2-2 draw at the DW Stadium and helped the Potters to continue their unbeaten league run with a well-earned point away to the Latics.

“There are a lot of positives to take away from the game. We performed well and dominated large parts of the match. There’s no reason why we can’t move on from this and establish ourselves in the top half of the table.

“In the long run, I’m sure we will look back at this as a good point because this is a tough place to come. It’s just a shame right now to be standing here not talking about the win, because we did deserve it.”

Stoke are currently 12th in the overall standings following draws against Reading, Arsenal and Wigan, but Adam is looking forward to successful career in the Potteries following his departure from Anfield.

The midfielder admitted it was a tough decision to leave Merseyside but his desire to play regular football forced him to make the choice. “It isn’t an easy decision to leave a club like Liverpool, but when you get the chance to come to Stoke and play regular football then you have to take that opportunity,” Adam said.

“This is a great club which has progressed well every year for the last five seasons or so, and once I had spoken to the gaffer (Tony Pulis) I knew this was the place I wanted to be at. It’s been great so far, I’ve only been here for a day or two but the lads have made me feel unbelievably welcome, and that really helps when you move to a new club.

“The club have shown a lot of faith in me, so hopefully I can repay them for that and help the club to even more success over the next four years or so.”
