Republic of Ireland defender Darragh Lenihan has moved to Middlesbrough on a four-year deal following the expiration of his deal with Blackburn Rovers.
The Meath native, who has just ended a 10-year stint with the Championship club, completes the move fresh off starting for his country during the recent draw with Ukraine in Poland. It was his first international cap in four years.
‘Boro boss Chris Wilder said: “I’ve been a huge admirer of Darragh for a long time, in terms of his qualities he brings as a player, as a person, as a competitor, as a warrior, and a leader of men.
“I’m putting a bit on him but I know he can handle it. He’s a proper football player and I’m delighted.”

Lenihan is the club’s third signing of the week following the double signing of Ryan Giles and Liam Roberts.
