AIRTRICITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Sligo Rovers 4 UCD 2:SLIGO ROVERS finished their season on a high with a victory over UCD at the Showgrounds last night.

Aaron Greene went close for Sligo in the sixth minute before Matthew Blinkhorn headed Sligo ahead in the 12th minute from a John Dillon corner. UCD missed a great chance to equalise on 20 minutes when Robbie Benson was taken down in the box but Dean Marshall’s spot-kick was saved by Ciarán Kelly in the home goal.

Marshall put Kelly under pressure in the 33rd minute and Benson put the Sligo defence under more pressure after 36 minutes before becoming a hero on the stroke of half-time when his shot slipped through Kelly’s fingers and into the net.

Raffaele Cretaro put Rovers in front for the second time three minutes after half-time before Dillon made it 3-1 on 63 minutes. Benson scored the visitors’ second in the 73rd minute before substitute Alan Kirby made it 4-2 seven minutes from time.
